COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION

UNDERESHIRT, MAN�S (POLYESTER/COTTON) QUARTER SLEEVE

This commercial item description, dated 3 December 1980, is to be used in preference to Federal Specification JJ-U-513, Type III and has been prepared by Navy Clothing and Textile Research Facility, Department of the Navy.

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS: The undershirt shall be quarter-sleeved, crew neck collarette, hemmed sleeves and reinforced shoulder and back neck collarette seam. The fabric shall be 65/35 percent polyester and cotton or 50/50 percent polyester and cotton. It shall be flat circular knit stitch and collarette shall be 1X1 rib knit stitch. The color shall be bleached white. The fabric shall have a minimum of 40 lbs bursting strength. The sizes, weight and shrinkage shall be as specified in Table I.

WORKMANSHIP: The finished undershirt shall show no obvious signs of deterioration such as frayed edges, broken seams, raw edges or ruptured fibers after 25 home type washing and tumble drying.

CERTIFICATION: The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer�s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices, and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.

RECOVERED MATERIALS: The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.

PACKAGING & PACKING: Three folded undershirts, of one size only, shall be packed in a polyethylene bag. One hundred and eighty undershirts, of one size only, shall be packed in a commercial fiberboard shipping container type CF, class domestic, variety DW, grade 275 in accordance with the Uniform Freight Classification or National Motor Freight Classification, as applicable.
